Background information
- 1. Photosynthetic bacteria
- These bacteria use the sunlight and gases in order to synthesize organic substances. The bacteria produce substances such as amino acids, nucleic acids, bio-active substances and sugar. These metabolites are immediately absorbed by the plants. The presence of photosynthetic bacteria is the reason why the washball has to regenerate in the sun.
- 2. Lactobacilli
- These bacteria produce lactic acid from sugar and or carbohydrates, which have been produced by photosynthetic bacteria and yeasts. Some products (such as yogurt for example) have been produced for decades with these bacteria. Nevertheless, lactic acid has a high sterilization power. It destroys undesired microorganism and causes fermentation.
- 3. Yeasts
- From amino acids and sugar, which have been produced by the photosynthetic bacteria and plant roots, the yeasts synthesize antimicrobial and other substances indispensable for the growth of the plants. The yeasts produce bio-active substances such as hormones and enzymes, which enhance the activity of the cells and the cell division. Microorganisms are burnt together with the ceramics which allow them to emit an effective dose. A large variety of different ceramics in the washball enhance the properties.
All the elements that make up the ceramics are pure and natural substances extracted from the earth. Each ceramic has different properties. Some increase the capacity of water to penetrate textiles and change the pH value, some have antioxidant features, others emit infrared waves and others again protect the water against pollution through bacteria.
